Dr Irina Webster

Dr Irina Webster is a medical doctor (retired) specialising in Women and Children’s Health. She has been dealing with eating disorders for many years. Not only she helped people to recover from eating disorders but she was the sufferer herself in her teens and early twenties.

From her personal experience with eating disorders she learned that one of the first steps in dealing with eating disorders is to discover the emotional cause of it, whether it is fear, depression, anxiety, or pessimism.

From the process of her personal recovery Dr Irina noticed that the bad emotions and beliefs come from the mind that constantly wants something – so called the “wanting mind”. In wanting mind, we feel that our current state of unhappiness could be cured if only we could have a slimmer body, a better look, have better relationship, more money, better job, more recognition, or power. And mindfulness is the only way to heal the “wanting mind”

Dr Irina propagates the mindfulness approach for eating disorders treatment. Mindfulness practice helps sufferers develop the capacity to see clearly exactly what they’re attached to so that they can let go of it and end their suffering.
